Phoenix, AZ - Zelva Dolores (Oliver) Cantu Campbell passed away peacefully, going home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2025, in Peoria, Arizona. She lived a life dedicated to her faith and Christ and was a faithful servant of God.
Dolores was born in Wynnewood, OK in 1941 to Marvin Lawton Oliver and Aura Blackwood Oliver. Due to her mothers' health, they eventually moved to Buckeye, Arizona. She attended Buckeye Elementary and Buckeye Union High School where she met her sweetheart, Lupe Cantu. She had four children Tammy Maassen (Kevin), Gerri Cantu Clay (Mark), Danny Cantu (Nichelle) and Christopher Cantu. Eleven Grandchildren and twelve Great Grandchildren.
Dolores' passion for cooking and baking led her to a career in the food industry from working at school cafeterias (Harquahala/Buckeye), the Sheep Camp restaurant and Rip Griffins Truck Stop. Cake decorating was a hobby of hers. She enjoyed making the individual flowers out of frosting to place on wedding cakes; her molded birthday cakes were a hit with children especially the Panda Bear. Her love of sewing led her to make quilts, Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls that she would deliver to Phoenix Childrens Hospital to give to the children and dish towels embroidered by hand.
She was preceded in death by first husband, Jeronimo Guadalupe (Lupe) Cantu and second husband, Calvin Campbell. Her parents, Lawton and Aura Oliver, her brother, Donald J. Rainbolt, sister Patricia Ann (Oliver) Pittman, granddaughter, Nicole Mason, grandson Anthony Castillo.
A celebration of Dolores's life will be held January 25, 2025, 10:00a at the First Southern Baptist Church, 405 N. 3rd St., Buckeye, Arizona. Donations can be made in her name to your favorite charity.
Dolores's kind spirit, generosity and compassion touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by her family, many friends, and all who knew her.
