Henderson, Nevada - Ronald Young passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on April 25, 1950, in Watertown, New York, to Charles and Josephine (Brown) Young.

A 1968 graduate of Watertown High School, Ron went on to serve his country for six years in the United States Navy as a machinist's mate. He attended the Navy Nuclear Power School and served on several ships, most notably the USS Benjamin Franklin submarine. After his honorable discharge in 1975, Ron dedicated his career to the nuclear energy industry, working at power plants in Connecticut, Washington State, Nebraska, and Arizona.

Ron earned his Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Technology from the New York Board of Regents, now known as Excelsior College. He retired in 2018 after 26 years of service with Arizona Public Service Company at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Ron gave generously of his time as a longtime volunteer with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Posse in Arizona.

Following his retirement, Ron relocated to Henderson, Nevada, to be closer to his son and his family. He was a member of Mosaic Church in Henderson and cherished the time spent with loved ones.

Ron is survived by his daughter Rachel; his son Justin and daughter-in-law, Tara; and his five beloved grandchildren: Zachary, Brianna, Ruth, Tabitha, and Abigail. He is also survived by his brothers Richard, William, and Roger. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Vickie and Sarah; and his brother Terry. Rachel and her mother, Donita, reside in Phoenix, Arizona.

A memorial service and interment of ashes will take place at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery on October 24 at 8:40 AM. Immediately afterward, friends are invited to join the family from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Mosaic Church in Henderson, Nevada for a reception honoring Ron's life and service. The family thanks you for your support. He will be deeply missed for his quiet strength and deep love for his family and country.
