Goodyear, AZ - Patricia Ann Burton, born August 7, 1949, passed away on May 18, 2025 with family by her side. She will be missed greatly by her family, friends, and pup.
Patricia was born in East Syracuse, NY to Dennison and Regina Pudney, and was the second of eight children. She fondly recalled dancing with her sisters and climbing the tree in her backyard. She was an accomplished pianist throughout high school and continued to share her talents with her family in her adult years. Her artistic talents began to shine in her high school years.
Patricia, aka Patty, attended Buffalo State College where she majored in art and met the love of her life and future husband, Edward (Ted) Burton. They were wed after their junior year of college and moved to Vermont upon graduation. They enjoyed over 50 years of marriage together and had two children, Matthew and Erin. Patty relished the challenge of building her family's log home with her husband and friends. She cherished many evenings on her front porch swing enjoying her surroundings and her family. Patty loved to take walks in the neighborhood with friends, family, and her dog, cheer at her kids' sporting events, and hang out on the beach on the annual family trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. She always had a hug and a homemade chocolate chip cookie for visitors. She was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in St. Albans, VT for the entirety of her life in Vermont.
Patricia was a beloved elementary school art teacher for St. Albans Town, VT for over 30 years. She found so much joy in her profession and inspired many budding artists. Upon retirement, she loved hiking with her friends, volunteering locally and visiting her children, running around with her dog, and creating more art. Throughout her life, her artistic endeavors also included a batik clothing business, wedding photography, handmade paper jewelry, a children's book, and original paintings, many created during the latter part of her life. Her natural surroundings were always her inspiration, both in Vermont and Arizona. She moved to Goodyear, AZ to the Estrella Mountain Ranch area with her husband in 2015. Patricia was so happy to be able to enjoy time with her two granddaughters, Veronica and Lorraine. They brought her endless joy and she gave them so much love.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Ted, her children, Matthew and Erin, her two granddaughters, Veronica and Lorraine, her two sisters and five brothers, and too many nieces and nephews to count. She joins her Lord and Savior, her parents, some dear teaching friends she has missed greatly, and beloved cousins in heaven.
Patty, Mom, Grandma, we love you so much and thank you for all the love you always showed us. We miss you and will always remember you and your beautiful smile.
A small memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30 at 1pm at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Litchfield Park, AZ. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite arts organization in her memory. Better yet, hug your family and make some art.
