Goodyear, AZ - Michael L. Chavez was born on October 21, 1944, in St. Johns, Arizona, to Trinidad and Susie Chavez. He grew up in South Phoenix, where he met the love of his life, Christina Yslas. In 1967, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country until 1969. Upon his return home, he and Christina married in 1970, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love and devotion.
In 1971, they welcomed their firstborn, Michael, followed by their daughter, Rhoda, four years later. Michael was a man known for his authenticity, unwavering love for his family, and immense pride in his grandsons. His selflessness and strength left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Christina Chavez; his children, Michael Chavez and Rhoda Chavez-Nowlan; and his grandsons, Sergio Chavez and Michael Chavez. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Chavez and Chris Chavez, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Onesima Gallegos, his parents, Trinidad and Susie Chavez, his brothers Victor Chavez and Mitchell Chavez, and his sister Ansanett Del Rio. While his passing leaves a deep void, we take comfort in knowing he is joyfully reunited with them.
