Goodyear, Arizona - Laurie Jean Cameron was born September 14, 1952 in Salem, Oregon to Robert and Jean Cameron. She passed peacefully at her home in Goodyear, Arizona on August 17, 2024. She is survived by her older brother Scott Cameron of Anchorage, Alaska, and sisters Calla Ferre of Soquel, California, and Kirsten Hansen of Scotts Valley, California, and niece Lindsay Cameron and nephew Matt Cameron both of Fairbanks, Alaska, April and Tomas Ferre of Soquel, and Hansen, Ridge and Sigrid Holthrop of Scott's Valley.

Following her graduation from South Salem High School in 1979, Laurie attended college in New Jersey. She earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Mercer County Community College and a Bachelor's of Arts (Magna Cum Laude) in Graphic Design from Trenton State College.

Laurie's 30+ years career in graphic design included Barbary Coast Press (San Francisco), Central Graphics and Ranroy Printing Company (both of San Diego).

Laurie enlisted in the US Army Reserves in 1980, serving in the 353rd Psychological Operations battalion, 7th Psychological Operations Group at the Presidio of San Francisco. She served 3 years, rising from Private FIrst Class to First Lieutenant during her tenure with the Reserves.

In 2016, Laurie purchased her retirement home in Goodyear, Arizona. However, she soon found that she was quite ready for retirement and worked part-time at the local Fry's Marketplace in Goodyear.

Laurie maintained a passiton for the arts and creative endeavors such as photography, sewing and cooking, where she excelled. Her hobbies included collecting unique wooden rolling pins, astronomy, wine tasting, and camping.

Laurie is fondly remembered by friends and co-workers as someone who was always there to lend a helping hand with a smile.
