Goodyear, AZ - Josie Garcia, 59, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and treasured friend passed away peacefully at home on May 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family and closest friends.

Josie was the beloved daughter of Robert Moreno and Frances Tovar.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Ray; her daughters, Jeanette (Freddy) Chagolla and Jamie (Eddie) Salas; her stepson, Adam (Krista) Garcia; her grandchildren, Serenity, Jacob, Nathan, Damien, Nathalia, Nayeli, Nalani, Jalissa, Adaline, and Arabella; her great-granddaughter, Yulianna; and her beloved siblings Maria (Mawie), Robert (Boy), Maria (Becky), Carlos (Charlie), Devin, Hector, and Martin.

Josie's commitment to her faith was unwavering. She devoted her life to her family, creating a home filled with laughter, wisdom, and unconditional support. Of all her life's blessings, Josie's proudest accomplishments were her two daughters. She poured her heart into raising them with love, resilience, and grace. In later years, she found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure.

She touched the lives of everyone she met, bringing joy and warmth into every space she entered. Josie had a special gift for connection. Whether over a cup of coffee, a spontaneous lunch, or one of her famously long phone conversations, she made people feel truly heard and seen. Her ability to make anyone feel welcome was a rare and beautiful quality—one that defined her presence wherever she went. Her radiant spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.

Her favorite color was yellow—a perfect reflection of her spirit: bright, cheerful, and full of light. Josie lived her life in full color, embracing each day with warmth and joy. She cherished the simple pleasures—heartfelt conversations, attending concerts, watching her favorite sports teams, spending time with family, and traveling alongside her devoted husband.

Though she is no longer with us, her light lives on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know and love her.

In honoring her legacy, may we continue to share kindness, hold space for one another, and brighten the world—just as Josie always did.

A Celebration of Life was held on June 9, 2025 at Palm Valley Church at 11:00 AM following a reception at River City Church in Goodyear, AZ
