Buckeye, AZ - Boyd Pierce, 78, of Buckeye, Arizona, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025. Born and raised in Buckeye by his parents Paul and Annabelle Pierce, Boyd grew up the second youngest of 6 siblings. He graduated from Buckeye Union High School in 1964 and was drafted two years later, serving his country with honor during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968. While stationed in the Army, Boyd's love of baseball led him to coach a Little League team—a role he cherished.
Following his military service, Boyd joined the family business, Pierce Aviation, where he worked until his retirement. Boyd's true passions were found outdoors as an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge about the desert, able to identify plants, animals, and hidden gems with ease.
Boyd's love for the Buckeye community was unparalleled. A proud member of the Elks Lodge, he participated in countless cookouts to raise funds for youth sports and local causes. Boyd also loved hosting Easter celebrations, where his infectious humor and "ornery" spirit brought joy to all. He had a special way with children, whether by making them laugh with his playful jokes, telling outrageous stories, or joining in their games—Boyd's playful spirit made him a favorite among children wherever he went.
Boyd shared 25 years of marriage with his late wife, Jeri, building a life and family. Later in life, he spent 20 years with his late partner Frieda, helping to raise her 3 grandchildren that he considered his own. Boyd had a knack for making everyone feel like family—loyal to a fault and always willing to lend a hand. Friends knew they could count on him for three guarantees: he'd teach you something new, make you laugh until your sides hurt, and—without fail—get you into a little trouble along the way.
Ornery, hilarious, and fiercely loyal, Boyd was a friend to all and a father figure to many. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and the lessons he shared.
Boyd is survived by his daughters Lindsay Longbons (Steve) and Shannon Pierce, his sister Phyllis Pace, as well his grandchildren: Chandler (Ceasar), Drew, Decklen, Alexus, Anthony and Alanah, in addition to a host of friends who became family. The community he cherished so deeply will feel his absence but will forever remember the man who could make anyone smile and taught us all how to embrace life's adventures.
A memorial service will be held at Farm Ag, formerly Pierce Aviation, at 11am on February 8, 2025 where friends and family are invited to share stories, laughter, and memories of an unforgettable man.
