Barbara Ann Shipp

Events

Barbara Ann "Nana" Shipp, resident of Peoria & Flagstaff, Az, born December 19, 1934 in Albany, New York has left our world to be in heaven on July 5, 2019. Barbara is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ronald Shipp, her four children Cindy Lewis, Dennis and his wife Sheryl, Randy, and Steven Shipp, along with 8 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Barbara was proceeded by her parents John & Mary Emerick, and grandson Daniel Lewis.
Barbara moved to Phoenix, Arizona with her parents at the age of 12. She met and married the love of her life, Ron, and their life was filled with adventures raising their children. Our Nana never hesitated to play with the grandchildren and great-children, always sure they ate and that they knew they were loved.
Barbara loved God fearlessly and lived her life showing His love to all around her, saying that there are no strangers in this world.
A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11:00 am, with lunch served afterwards in the reception hall at Skyway Church 14900 W Van Buren St., Goodyear, Az 85338. In lieu of flowers, please donate to projects dear to Barbara's heart, GTSSS or Project 15 with Skyway Church online at skywaychurch.com/give/.

Barb a Godly women who was always patient, encouraging, humble and kind. Loving everyone all the time. Many great memories we will hold in our hearts forever. It has been an honor and blessing knowing and loving Barb and Ron both and we are the better for it. The light Barb gave to this world will continue to shine.

How fortunate I am to have known Barbara since we were 12 years old going to Creighton School in Phoenix, later North High glee club, cruising Central Avenue and the Polar Bar along with all those Square Dances we went to with Bettye, the third member of our threesome all these years. What great memories we made then while keeping in touch since 1948 off and on with our own "reunions" having lunch hashing over the past and present progress of our lives. It isn't everyday one has such a long lasting, loving friend such as Barbara to know throughout their lives and I'm blessed to have been her friend for so many years. My Dear Barbara, I'll miss you. May you rest in peace.
To Ronnie, I
... know your faith will carry you through this difficult time and no one who hasn't been in your shoes will know what you are feeling except those who have been there. As Barbara would say, Blessings to you and your family, with my love,
Liz James

I was an Arizona 'import', just like Barb. She befriended I me and offered to be my Arizona "Nana". Even when I moved out of state, every time she corresponded she always signed "Nana."
When Cindy, her daughter and my precious friend told me ,"mom is singing with the angels." Nana soothed me , I saw her face and heard her saying, " it is perfectly peaceful in heaven and that she wanted that peace for all of us." How perfectly Barb/Nana is that, still soothing me/us from beyond. May we carry that peace she told me about..

A very special lady who loved all that came within her orbit. I will miss her smile and the laughter we shared. Barbara was always ready to laugh with you, listen and always share kindness. Her light shone brightly. She was a true Star in life. We will miss her.

There are no great authors’ words, and there are no great artists’ brush strokes, able to publish the novel or paint the picture that could truly convey all that was, and will always be, Barbara. A strong woman of faith and a truly warm heart that brought friendship and light wherever she went and to everyone she met. Always striving to empathize and learn more about people, life, and God’s will. All this and so much more, wrapped up in a daughter, woman, wife, mother, Nana, friend, and servant of God.

We will ALWAYS remember the smile, hard work, and celebrations of her family. She was always serving others so that everyone around her enjoyed themselves.

She was always able to se
...e and embrace the humor of life, as evidenced by the funniest of gifts (a leg lamp, an iron), or the humor of day-to-day life (peanut butter freshly warmed up in a dryer), which frequently broke out into riotous laughter hard enough to emote tears.

I’m sure God has received this beloved woman with open arms... “A life well-lived and well done, Barbara.”
